When is the United Kingdom General election?Voting takes place 28 January 2025
The United Kingdom General election vote will take place on 28th January 2025. A general election allows individuals across the UK to elect their Member of Parliament (MP), who will serve as their representative in the House of Commons for a term of up to five years.
In each constituency, voters have the opportunity to choose from a variety of candidates, including representatives from national political parties. The candidate who garners the highest number of votes becomes the MP for that constituency.
As for the timing of the next general election, it has not yet been announced. The Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 reinstated the monarch's authority to dissolve Parliament, a decision typically made at the request of the Prime Minister.
